Leon Panetta Sticks-Up For Staff, Speaks Great Common Sense

aux.link.: Panetta to CIA employees: We told Pelosi the truth - Glenn Thrush: Hill Intrigue - POLITICO.com

"Message from the Director: Turning Down the Volume

There is a long tradition in Washington of making political hay out of our business. It predates my service with this great institution, and it will be around long after I’m gone. But the political debates about interrogation reached a new decibel level yesterday when the CIA was accused of misleading Congress. Let me be clear: It is not our policy or practice to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values. As the Agency indicated previously in response to Congressional inquiries, our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing “the enhanced techniques that had been employed.” Ultimately, it is up to Congress to evaluate all the evidence and reach its own conclusions about what happened.

My advice — indeed, my direction — to you is straightforward: ignore the noise and stay focused on your mission. We have too much work to do to be distracted from our job of protecting this country.

We are an Agency of high integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Our task is to tell it like it is — even if that’s not what people always want to hear. Keep it up. Our national security depends on it."

KRISTOL: Don't Wince. Fight! Dick Cheney, Most Valuable Republican

aux.link.: Don't Wince. Fight!

" "As Cheney Seizes Spotlight, Many Republicans Wince," was the front-page headline in Thursday's Washington Post. Two Republican "strategists" spoke "on the condition of anonymity in order to be candid." Profiles in courage! One of them opined that Cheney is "entirely unhelpful." The other elaborated, "Even if he's right, he's absolutely the wrong messenger.  .  .  .  We want Bush to be a distant memory in the next election."

To have such a juvenile understanding of political dynamics, you'd have to be a prominent "Republican strategist." You might actually have both the Dole and McCain campaigns under your belt. Or perhaps you were one of those who encouraged the Bush White House to assume a fetal position on most issues in its second term and not fight back against slanders or defend their people, because to do so would spotlight the "wrong" issues or people."

Obama: Let's Wait For Iran To Nuke Israel First

aux.link.: Report: Obama to Offer Israel 'Nuclear Umbrella' Against Iran - FOXNews.com Transition Tracker

This... is scary as hell. Israelies have good reason to question the true support of the USA starting next year. This, coupled with the tripling of Iranian long-range missiles and thousands of centrifuges coming online outside Tehran, only means one thing clearly to me. Israel has no choice but to bomb Iran before January 20th, 2009. That's little more than one month away. Get on it.

Geert Wilders: 'Our Culture Is Better'

aux.link.: Geert Wilders: 'Our Culture Is Better' - WSJ.com
"As he sees it, the West suffers from an excess of toleration for those who do not share its tradition of tolerance. "We believe that -- 'we' means the political elite -- that all cultures are equal," he says. "I believe this is the biggest disease today facing Europe. . . . We should wake up and tell ourselves: You're not a xenophobe, you're not a racist, you're not a crazy guy if you say, 'My culture is better than yours.' A culture based on Christianity, Judaism, humanism is better. Look at how we treat women, look at how we treat apostates, look at how we go with the separation of church and state. I can give you 500 examples why our culture is better." "

Team Obama Silent After Mumbai Attacks

Make that 96+ hours silent. Could 'The Office Of The President-Elect' be scared shitless and not know how to respond to such real evil and threats abroad? What about the two Americans killed at least? Are they shocked that the War On Terror actually meant something, and that terrorism in general is still the greatest threat to all societies? Time will tell, but silence is not something that's going to comfort Americans who are now wondering how 'The One' is planning to address, handle and save the situation...

I'll give him a pass on his interview slip last weekend, even. "Once a muslim, always a muslim," said an intelligent and wise Indian co-worker of mine recently... good point I believe.

There is one thing we know for sure, however- 'Black Liberation Theology' sure as hell is not the same as Christianity. I'm curious as to why nobody has ever made that challenge. And to compound things after Wright, this guy really isn't helping his case either...

Benedict's Men: The Swiss Guards Of Vatican City

aux.link: FOXNews.com - Stripes and Solids: Protecting the Pope

"On first look, the uniform worn by Pope Benedict XVI’s bodyguards — the colorful yellow and blue stripey uniforms, the red ostrich feather-plumed helmets, the tights and bloomers — might lead you to think your grandmother could take them on.

You would be gravely mistaken.

Armed only with Renaissance weaponry, this minuscule army successfully kept Nazi soldiers out of Vatican City during World War II as Germany occupied Rome.

While they still wear armor and carry antique weapons, it’s not all medieval warfare for the Swiss Guards. They must maintain a high degree of physical fitness and master modern weaponry, such as the H&K submachine gun and the SIG Sauer 9 mm pistol. To best protect the Pope, they also train at close-quarters fighting and tactical movement, as well as security and counter-terrorism techniques."

Hamas Cleric Sees Rome Bastardized By Islam

aux.link: FOXNews.com - Hamas Cleric Predicts 'Rome Will Be Conquered by Islam'

Or at least, that's how I saw his comments. Perhaps The Vatican's security force, the Swiss Guards, need more defensive measures.
Since we know we can't count on the EU or UN for having already caved.

"A sermon last Friday by a prominent Muslim cleric and Hamas member of the Palestinian parliament openly declared that "the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital," would soon be conquered by Islam.

The fiery sermon, delivered by Yunis al-Astal and aired on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV, predicted that Rome would become "an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe."

"Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion," al-Astal preached, "so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security and consolidation of power, and even to conquests through da'wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world."

"Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our prophet Muhammad," he added."

Muslims Always Innocent, Infidels Always Guilty

aux.link: FOXNews.com - Report: Non-Muslims Deserve to Be Punished

"A report posted on Islam Watch, a site run by Muslims who oppose intolerant teachings and hatred for unbelievers, exposes a prominent Islamic cleric and lawyer who support extreme punishment for non-Muslims — including killing and rape.

A question-and-answer session with Imam Abdul Makin in an East London mosque asks why Allah would tell Muslims to kill and rape innocent non-Muslims, including their wives and daughters, according to Islam Watch. 'Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet,' the Imam says, according to the report. 'If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain.'

The lawyer, Anjem Choudary, backs up the Imam's position, saying that all Muslims are innocent. Click here to watch the interview with Islamic lawyer Anjem Choudary.
'You are innocent if you are a Muslim,' Choudary tells the BBC. 'Then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are not a Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God.'

Choudary said he would not condemn a Muslim for any action. 'As a Muslim, I must support my Muslim brothers and sisters,' Choudary said. 'I must have hatred to everything that is not Muslim.' "

Young, Stupid Liberals Think Iraq Still An Enemy

aux.link: Poll: Iran, Iraq, China Top US Enemies

Well this is pretty telling even if it's of no real surprise to you and I... excellent.

"Gallup first asked the question in early 2001, before the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. At the time, Iraq was seen as the biggest foe, followed by China and Iran.

Iraq has remained one of the most frequently named ever since, even though Saddam Hussein was overthrown and the current Baghdad government is backed by the U.S.

Republicans are more than twice as likely as Democrats to see Iran as the top U.S. enemy, while Democrats are likelier to name Iraq. Older people and those who say they closely follow world news are less likely to cite Iraq than the younger and less informed."

Seven Reasons To Support The GOP Nominee

aux.link: Seven Reasons To Support The GOP's Nominee - Townhall.com::Blog

"There are seven reasons for anyone to support the eventual nominee no matter who it is: The war and six Supreme Court justices over the age of 68."

"The GOP as well is the party committed to victory in Iraq and the wider war. A four year time-out would be a disaster, a period of time in which al Qaeda and its jihadist off-shoots would regroup in some places and continue to spread in others. Iran, even if punished in the months before November, would certainly continue and accelerate its plans under the soft pleadings of a President Obama or Clinton 2.0."

"But it is very possible to play full contact politics without the threat of going home if your team loses. The stakes in the fall are far too high for that."
Indeed- take heed.

Why Offensive Pre-Emptive Strikes Are Needed

aux.link: Pre-emptive nuclear strike a key option, Nato told

"...five commanders argue that the west's values and way of life are under threat, but the west is struggling to summon the will to defend them. The key threats are:
· Political fanaticism and religious fundamentalism.
· The "dark side" of globalisation, meaning international terrorism, organised crime and the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
· Climate change and energy security, entailing a contest for resources and potential "environmental" migration on a mass scale.
· The weakening of the nation state as well as of organisations such as the UN, Nato and the EU."

Dakar Rally Canceled After Terror Threat

aux.link: Dakar Rally Canceled After Terror Threat

As an everything-but-NASCAR motorsports fan, having terrorism directly touch an aspect of this sports genre is particularly disheartening. The easy way for the organizers of this rally (an off-road race from Paris to Dakar through the African Sahara desert and scrublands) to deal with this was quit in the face of terror, which they did and they acknowledge that. But I think these race participants are still plenty adventerous enough to go on. Even if things aren't what they used to be now in 2008, maybe it's just time for the co-pilot to add a new piece of equipment next to the fire extinguisher.

I'd Rather Be Feared Than Loved

Boo freaking hoo. What did you expect, a baguette and coffee upon arrival? Forgive us if we're hell-bent on security as you enter the borders of the world's only superpower. We had this little thing called 9/11 that shook us up. Our bad.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Rude immigration officials and visa delays keep millions of foreign visitors away from the United States, hurt the country's already battered image, and cost the U.S. billions of dollars in lost revenue, according to an advocacy group formed to push for a better system.

To drive home the point, the Discover America Partnership released the result of a global survey on Monday which showed that international travelers see the United States as the world's worst country in terms of getting a visa and, once you have it,
making your way past rude immigration officials.

But it's ok. America will come back around in 2008 once they've experienced the San Francisco values of Nancy Pelosi, the cut-and-run antics of John Murtha, and sometimes ridiculous legislature bills that will have come across the isle for the previous two years. The War On Terror: Beyond Politics

I was going to write out a nice article to post here, but the journalist in the linked write-up below already beat me to the gist of the message- worth a read.

There are elements we face now more dangerous than that of Hitler and the Nazis. As such, the War on Terror needs to be taken more seriously here and abroad, and fought harder against that the Allies did against the Axis in World War II. Time is still on our side until this new Axis (of Evil), goes nuclear. Noting that, where in the world is the outrage against terrorism from the West? Or hell, where is the global outrage? There are far too many pacifists calling themselves leaders and doing little or nothing to assist the United States. Now, that's a disproportionate use of force.

The threat is real, though it's inexcusable that politics still gets in the way. Thanks to the left-wing, it has to stay political if anything can get done. The simple answer to ensure the call to arms remains for the sake of our freedom and safety is to vote Republican this fall. It's going to be harder to make inroads in destroying militant Islamic fascists if we lose the House this November (possible), and damn near impossible if the Senate goes along with it (less possible).

Ahmadinejad Coming To NYC? Whack Him!

Ok, so my Berlin hitman idea earlier this summer didn't work out because Iran sucks at soccer and got their asses handed to them by Mexico. But there's still another chance. Iranian tyrant Mockmood Ackmenijihad is said to be heading onto US soil in New York City to speak to the United Nations General Assembly this month. He's going to be in NYC. Not only do Americans, mindful Iranians, and other decent people internationally genuinely hate him (except for his number one boy, Kofi Annan), but he's a threat to the free will of Iranian peoples, freedom in general, Democracy, stability in Iraq, and the entire in-crowd called 'The West'. Israel especially.

Can somebody pay off one of the New York 'families' to wipe him off the map whilst he is in town? Ten points for concrete galoshes into the East River. Tell me this is not the best idea you've heard in months.

Bits of info to take away: if the UN should continue to exist, it needs to be moved to Bermuda for reasons like this. Or the Azores or Newfoundland or somewhere else- screw 'em. Secondly, reverse the situation... what would you expect to happen to President Bush if he paid a visit to Tehran? Exactly. And does he still go there? No. So, it's in the cards- whack Ahmadinejad.

Traitor Extraordinaire!

You'd expect this kind of talk from some idiot protester resident of the Bay Area, but not from your congressman. The Yuppie Horror Picture Show calls for the resignation of this blasphemer who's helping run the country he hates.

MIAMI — American presence in Iraq is more dangerous to world peace than nuclear threats from North Korea or Iran, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., said to an audience of more than 200 in North Miami Saturday afternoon.

Murtha was the guest speaker at a town hall meeting organized by Rep. Kendrick B. Meek, D-Miami, at Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. Meek's mother, former Rep. Carrie Meek, D-Miami, was also on the panel.

War veterans, local mayors, university students and faculty were in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre to listen to the three panelists discuss the war in Iraq for an hour.

A former Marine and a prominent critic of the Bush administration's policies in Iraq, Murtha reiterated his views that the war cannot be won militarily and needs political solutions. He said the more than 100,000 troops in Iraq should be pulled out immediately, and deployed to peripheral countries like Kuwait.

"We do not want permanent bases in Iraq," Murtha told the audience. "We want as many Americans out of there as possible."

Murtha also has publicly said that the shooting of 24 Iraqis in November at Haditha, a city in the Anbar province of western Iraq that has been plagued by insurgents, was wrongfully covered up.

The killings, which sparked an investigation into the deadly encounter and another into whether they were the subject of a cover-up, could undermine U.S. efforts in Iraq more than the prison abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib in 2004, Murtha said.

"(The United States) became the target when Abu Ghraib came along," Murtha said.

Iraqi WMDs Found, Dems To Eat Crow

Not just one or five, but hundreds of WMDs have in fact been found since 2003 according to a document declassified Wednesday. But because of "mindless resistance" from left-wing critics, the matter was simply not discussed for fear of never-ending debate. The Bush Administration, in a very modest performance, decided that fact was fact for the record, classified their findings, and made a PR focus on installing a stable Iraqi government instead. That's a pretty balsy and confident move! They've got huge findings in the bag but aren't bragging about it. It's just there if people want to know.

[On my mark, cue Nanci Pelosi bitch smacks]

Granted, the WMDs found do not show a weapons program of proliferation throughout the 1990s as most of them pre-date the first Gulf War - those have yet to be found - but the now unclassified findings do show several key things of equal importance regardless. A sampling:

1) Saddam lied about destroying all chemical weapons. [whu-pish!]
2) United Nations weapon inspections do not work, further discrediting the UN's capacity for real change. [whu-pish!]
3) Democrats who actually fell for Saddam's promise and based much of their campaigns and rallies around a "Where's WMD?" concept must now eat crow and figure out how to mend the deepening divides that seperate them. [whu-pish!]
4) The WMDs found were nonetheless equally lethal as they were not found in secure areas, and could have easily been procured by insurgents to use against coalition forces or sold on the black market to other terrorists states, such as Palestine to attack Israelis. [whu-pish!]

It will be interesting to see what the left-wing sympathizers say about this in the coming days. But so far for some reason, more than 12 hours later after the press release when the Internet has been abuzz all day with the news,
CNN.com is mum into the wee hours of the next morning with not a single word about the findings. Just the typical military doom and gloom bias with a side of terroist videos to scare its viewership. How frickin' surprising.

Eureka! Kicking Ass And Taking Names

The dems are reeling from all this great news... whatever will they do?! It's stuff like this (and even more of it we all hope) that will boost poll numbers and keep the GOP in power this year.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraq's national security adviser said Thursday a "huge treasure" of documents and computer records was seized after the raid on terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's hideout, giving the Iraqi government the upper hand in its fight against al-Qaida in Iraq.

National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie also said he believed the security situation in the country would improve enough to allow a large number of U.S.-led forces to leave Iraq by the end of this year, and a majority to depart by the end of next year. "And maybe the last soldier will leave Iraq by mid-2008," he said.

Al-Rubaie said a laptop, flashdrive and other documents were found in the debris after the airstrike that killed the al-Qaida in Iraq leader last week outside Baqouba, and more information has been uncovered in raids of other insurgent hideouts since then. He called it a "huge treasure ... a huge amount of information."

When asked how he could be sure the information was authentic, al-Rubaie said "there is nothing more authentic than finding a thumbdrive in his pocket."

"We believe that this is the beginning of the end of al-Qaida in Iraq," al-Rubaie said, adding that the documents showed al-Qaida is in "pretty bad shape," politically and in terms of training, weapons and media.

Just How Dangerous Is Iran's Regime?

Nazism is returning in the Middle East. Are we still planning on that 'diplomacy' hooey at some point or can we just send a few ICBMs into Tehran? Like, y'know, yesterday? This is really starting to get edgy- I would expect something big to come to a head by the end of this year. Military action needs to be taken immediately against that government for the sake of the common good of Iranians and the rest of the world.

If You Got It, Flaunt It

Israel has apparently shoved back in regards to the threats from Iran. It's about time they start flexing some muscle to the media of the degree that the U.S. has the tendency to do. Israel quietly has the nuclear capability to not only wipe Iran off the map as they proclaimed today, but probably most of Europe and Russia as well if they had to.

Why the rest of the Middle East doesn't respect this is beyond me. It's pretty simple really. When it comes down to conflict in that region, don't f*** with Israel. There isn't another country in the world that has more intelligence and warcraft backing from the United States of America than they do.

Throw 'Em Back

FLASHBACK:
This post was lifted from my now un-political personal weblog and may be dated.

And now for something completely disturbing... peace activists who were kidnapped in Iraq, taken hostage by insurgents, then rescued by Coalition forces whom saved their lives from likely beheadings, rape and torture. I'd be pretty happy toward my rescuers. But what was these stupid hippies' response?

"We believe that the illegal occupation of Iraq by Multinational Forces is the root cause of the insecurity which led to this kidnapping and so much pain and suffering in Iraq. The occupation must end."
