WSJ: 'The Path Forward for Honduras' by Roberto Micheletti

aux.link.: The Path Forward for Honduras - WSJ.com

"One of America’s most loyal Latin American allies—Honduras—has been in the midst of a constitutional crisis that threatens its democracy. Sadly, key undisputed facts regarding the crisis have often been ignored by America’s leaders, at least during the earliest days of the crisis.

In recent days, the rhetoric from allies of former President Manuel Zelaya has also dominated media reporting in the U.S. The worst distortion is the repetition of the false statement that Mr. Zelaya was removed from office by the military and for being a “reformer.” The truth is that he was removed by a democratically elected civilian government because the independent judicial and legislative branches of our government found that he had violated our laws and constitution.

Let’s review some fundamental facts that cannot be disputed..."

Buchanan: Socialist America Sinking

aux.link.: Socialist America sinking

"Coming to America to feast on this cornucopia of freebies is the world. One million to 2 million immigrants, legal and illegal, arrive every year. They come with fewer skills and less education than Americans, and consume more tax dollars than they contribute by three to one.

Wise Latina women have more babies north of the border than they do in Mexico and twice as many here as American women.

As almost all immigrants are now Third World people of color, they qualify for ethnic preferences in hiring and promotions and admissions to college over the children of Americans.

All of this would have astounded and appalled the Founding Fathers, who after all, created America – as they declared loud and clear in the Constitution – "for ourselves and our posterity."

China saves, invests and grows at 8 percent. America, awash in debt, has a shrinking economy, a huge trade deficit, a gutted industrial base, an unemployment rate surging toward 10 percent and a money supply that's swollen to double its size in a year. The 20th century may have been the American Century. The 21st shows another pattern.

"The United States is declining as a nation and a world power with mostly sighs and shrugs to mark this seismic event," writes Les Gelb, president emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations, in CFR's Foreign Affairs magazine. "Astonishingly, some people do not appear to realize that the situation is all that serious." "

It Was Legal: Why Everyone Should Back Honduras' Micheletti

aux.link.: Why Honduras Sent Zelaya Away - WSJ.com

"In a perfect world former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya would be in jail in his own country right now, awaiting trial. The Honduran attorney general has charged him with deliberately violating Honduran law and the Supreme Court ordered his arrest in Tegucigalpa on June 28.

But the Honduran military whisked him out of the country, to Costa Rica, when it executed the court's order.

His expulsion has given his supporters ammunition to allege that he was treated unlawfully. Now he is an international hero of the left. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Cuban dictator Raúl Castro, and Venezuela's Hugo Chávez are all insisting that he be restored to power. This demand is baseless. Mr. Zelaya's detention was legal, as was his official removal from office by Congress.

If there is anything debatable about the crisis it is the question of whether the government can defend the expulsion of the president. In fact it had good reasons for that move and they are worth Mrs. Clinton's attention if she is interested in defending democracy."

Leon Panetta Sticks-Up For Staff, Speaks Great Common Sense

aux.link.: Panetta to CIA employees: We told Pelosi the truth - Glenn Thrush: Hill Intrigue - POLITICO.com

"Message from the Director: Turning Down the Volume

There is a long tradition in Washington of making political hay out of our business. It predates my service with this great institution, and it will be around long after I’m gone. But the political debates about interrogation reached a new decibel level yesterday when the CIA was accused of misleading Congress. Let me be clear: It is not our policy or practice to mislead Congress. That is against our laws and our values. As the Agency indicated previously in response to Congressional inquiries, our contemporaneous records from September 2002 indicate that CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing “the enhanced techniques that had been employed.” Ultimately, it is up to Congress to evaluate all the evidence and reach its own conclusions about what happened.

My advice — indeed, my direction — to you is straightforward: ignore the noise and stay focused on your mission. We have too much work to do to be distracted from our job of protecting this country.

We are an Agency of high integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Our task is to tell it like it is — even if that’s not what people always want to hear. Keep it up. Our national security depends on it."

On World Stage, Obama Uses Podium To Express Regret

aux.link.: On World Stage, Obama Uses Podium to Express Regret - FOXNews.com

My turn this term: What an embarassment our President is! Unacceptable. Stand up for us! Be proud of America's accomplishments! The world's sole superpower, greatest supporter of charity, freedom and democracy - which has risen from nothing in less than 250 years - and whose President is seen as the leader of the free world, should not be bowing down and apologizing for any mistakes we've made along the way.

Blah blah blah? You're right- because that's common sense. Most others around the world even accept and understand this with at least some degree of respect. Our own POTUS does not. Other heads of state can't believe his remarks and are laughing on the inside at him, and us for being foolish enough to have elected such a noob. Going forward, it's all about Obama 'repairing our image' and 'remaking America'. We as citizens shudder at the thought. Except the Obamabots still lusting after his image, still too incompetent to realize they've been tricked into bad policies for America by a smooth talker with a teleprompter.

Two Black Women Jailed Over Photo Theft Of Our Dear Leader

aux.link.: Two women jailed over Obama photo Cincinnati Enquirer

You know what? I have a framed photo of the Bushes on one of the bookshelves in my home office. And I didn't steal it. The Bushes signed, sealed and shipped it to me after I donated to their campaign. You know, because I earned it, and I display it as a nice gesture in return because it's something I'm proud of. They're neighbors, afterall. It's about the last thing I'm concerned about being stolen from the fortified YHPS compound in North Dallas.

Something is of the completely opposite spectrum here with these other two over their idol who they would apparently do anything for... I mean, one broke and entered a house for this, and the owner fought her over it. My money is on the thief's intentions for hanging it in a prayer room for socialist reparations.

aux.link.: Sticking it to the Man - Patrick Bedard - Car And Driver

The article showcased is a great example of why yours truly owns a Valentine One radar locator to protest against The Man's interference and inept judgement in how I should operate my vehicle.

"Back in Arizona’s analog days of sweaty horses and dusty trails, men with guns would hide behind rocks, and when the stagecoach came along, they jumped out and demanded money. This was called highway robbery.

Now the state installs robots with radar guns along roads. In this digital era, no horses are abused and no men jump out. The demand for $165 plus costs comes in the mail. And it’s no longer called highway robbery. Now it’s “balancing the budget.” "

Obama: Let's Wait For Iran To Nuke Israel First

aux.link.: Report: Obama to Offer Israel 'Nuclear Umbrella' Against Iran - FOXNews.com Transition Tracker

This... is scary as hell. Israelies have good reason to question the true support of the USA starting next year. This, coupled with the tripling of Iranian long-range missiles and thousands of centrifuges coming online outside Tehran, only means one thing clearly to me. Israel has no choice but to bomb Iran before January 20th, 2009. That's little more than one month away. Get on it.

"George W. Bush hopes history will see him as a president who liberated millions of Iraqis and Afghans, who worked towards peace and who never sold his soul for political ends.

"I'd like to be a president (known) as somebody who liberated 50 million people and helped achieve peace," Bush said in excerpts of a recent interview released by the White House Friday. Appeasement: Bush's Speech Of The Year In Israel

aux.link: Obama says Bush falsely accuses him of appeasement

Excellence- well done, Mr. President. These are some of the defining words that will mark your legacy.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama accused President Bush on Thursday of launching a "false political attack" with a comment about appeasing terrorists and radicals. The Illinois senator interpreted the remark as a slam against him but the White House denied that Bush's words were in any way directed at Obama, who has said as president he would be willing to personally meet with Iran's leaders and those of other regimes the United States has deemed rogue.

In a speech to Israel's Knesset, Bush said: "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is—the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

Benedict's Men: The Swiss Guards Of Vatican City

aux.link: FOXNews.com - Stripes and Solids: Protecting the Pope

"On first look, the uniform worn by Pope Benedict XVI’s bodyguards — the colorful yellow and blue stripey uniforms, the red ostrich feather-plumed helmets, the tights and bloomers — might lead you to think your grandmother could take them on.

You would be gravely mistaken.

Armed only with Renaissance weaponry, this minuscule army successfully kept Nazi soldiers out of Vatican City during World War II as Germany occupied Rome.

While they still wear armor and carry antique weapons, it’s not all medieval warfare for the Swiss Guards. They must maintain a high degree of physical fitness and master modern weaponry, such as the H&K submachine gun and the SIG Sauer 9 mm pistol. To best protect the Pope, they also train at close-quarters fighting and tactical movement, as well as security and counter-terrorism techniques."

Hamas Cleric Sees Rome Bastardized By Islam

aux.link: FOXNews.com - Hamas Cleric Predicts 'Rome Will Be Conquered by Islam'

Or at least, that's how I saw his comments. Perhaps The Vatican's security force, the Swiss Guards, need more defensive measures.
Since we know we can't count on the EU or UN for having already caved.

"A sermon last Friday by a prominent Muslim cleric and Hamas member of the Palestinian parliament openly declared that "the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital," would soon be conquered by Islam.

The fiery sermon, delivered by Yunis al-Astal and aired on Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV, predicted that Rome would become "an advanced post for the Islamic conquests, which will spread though Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, even Eastern Europe."

"Allah has chosen you for Himself and for His religion," al-Astal preached, "so that you will serve as the engine pulling this nation to the phase of succession, security and consolidation of power, and even to conquests through da'wa and military conquests of the capitals of the entire world."

"Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was, as was prophesized by our prophet Muhammad," he added."

Muslims Always Innocent, Infidels Always Guilty

aux.link: FOXNews.com - Report: Non-Muslims Deserve to Be Punished

"A report posted on Islam Watch, a site run by Muslims who oppose intolerant teachings and hatred for unbelievers, exposes a prominent Islamic cleric and lawyer who support extreme punishment for non-Muslims — including killing and rape.

A question-and-answer session with Imam Abdul Makin in an East London mosque asks why Allah would tell Muslims to kill and rape innocent non-Muslims, including their wives and daughters, according to Islam Watch. 'Because non-Muslims are never innocent, they are guilty of denying Allah and his prophet,' the Imam says, according to the report. 'If you don't believe me, here is the legal authority, the top Muslim lawyer of Britain.'

The lawyer, Anjem Choudary, backs up the Imam's position, saying that all Muslims are innocent. Click here to watch the interview with Islamic lawyer Anjem Choudary.
'You are innocent if you are a Muslim,' Choudary tells the BBC. 'Then you are innocent in the eyes of God. If you are not a Muslim, then you are guilty of not believing in God.'

Choudary said he would not condemn a Muslim for any action. 'As a Muslim, I must support my Muslim brothers and sisters,' Choudary said. 'I must have hatred to everything that is not Muslim.' "

Young, Stupid Liberals Think Iraq Still An Enemy

aux.link: Poll: Iran, Iraq, China Top US Enemies

Well this is pretty telling even if it's of no real surprise to you and I... excellent.

"Gallup first asked the question in early 2001, before the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11. At the time, Iraq was seen as the biggest foe, followed by China and Iran.

Iraq has remained one of the most frequently named ever since, even though Saddam Hussein was overthrown and the current Baghdad government is backed by the U.S.

Republicans are more than twice as likely as Democrats to see Iran as the top U.S. enemy, while Democrats are likelier to name Iraq. Older people and those who say they closely follow world news are less likely to cite Iraq than the younger and less informed."

Why The Special Muslim Privileges?

aux.link: Georgie Anne Geyer: Why the special Muslim privileges? - Dallas Morning News

"What we are seeing is a wave of arrogance sweeping into America with the wave of Muslim immigrants and students. One searches in vain for an individual or organized Muslim voice showing real respect or even a minimal liking for America or American customs.

What to make of all of this? The major problem, it must be said, is not the foreigners but America and Europe themselves. Both have essentially lost their grit in terms of protecting and defending their own principles and polities. This fight with Islam is only beginning – and it is in many ways far more important, ultimately, than the war in the Middle East. Until America and Europe regain their voices and their self-respect, this problem... will only continue to grow."

aux.link: Video: Fitna the Movie: Geert Wilders' film about the Quran (English) - Google Video

Except from Google Video, though they won't recognize it in their 'Movers and Shakers' rankings.

But even highly-credited LiveLink.com, four days early than the anticipated launch date, gives this in return:

"Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers. This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one. Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture. We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high."
Proves the point- I hope this catches on like wildfire this weekend.

US Stability Offset By Gun-Toting Citizens?

aux.link: If you think it’s bad here, don’t try Switzerland

That's what Jane's finds here, though the ambiguous and highly-questionable data can't be taken seriously. I should add a new post tag called 'incompetence', but I'd end up labeling damn near every post with it.
"Mr Le Mière said that the US had fallen down the scale, although it still scored an average of 93 out of 100, partly because of the proliferation of small arms owned by Americans and the threat to the population posed by the flow of drugs from across the Mexican border."
False. The credit crisis and taxpayer-supported welfare programs propping up the latter argument would have been more-believable answers. Must have been a slow newsday in the UK and the underdeveloped intern yops were getting a bit antsy to speak, now that Heather Mills has apparently shut up and disappeared. As usual, half-wit biased European zealots don't understand the Second Amendment here in America, and will continue not until they study more history than their elementary educations demanded for 'foreign affairs'. This is just another gun rights and the effectiveness thereof debate in the making, but its cleaver angle here is worth putting on notice.

Security Concerns Halt 3com + Huawei Deal

aux.link: Bain ends 3Com deal

Thank God- this was quite unsettling news
that I caught wind of in January. Glad some folks a little higher on the food chain thought so as well.

"Bain said on Thursday that the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) had said it would block the $2.2 billion deal that would also have given Huawei, China's biggest network equipment maker, a minority stake of up to 21.5 percent in 3Com. Several U.S. lawmakers have complained that the deal threatened national security due to Huawei's alleged ties to the Chinese military. 3Com sells security technology and network equipment to government agencies and large businesses.

Huawei had maintained that it is a private company owned by employees, but founder Ren Zhengfei was a former People's Liberation Army soldier. Huawei and 3Com representatives were not immediately available for comment."
Bain was trying to make it happen even after the security concerns were raised! I can't stand companies that don't consider ethics and security like this. Romney, go slap 'em up.

• Removes your obligation to retreat if possible before using deadly force if you are anywhere you have a right to be. The previous law obliged you to retreat if a "reasonable person" would have, except in a situation where someone unlawfully entered your home.
• Gives you added protection from lawsuits by injured attackers or their families. Previous law granted this protection if someone illegally entered your home, but not in other situations.

And also from my other entry today above, "Bain Capital is partnering with China's Huawei Technologies in a buyout of 3Com, the U.S. company that provides the technology that protects Pentagon computers from Chinese hackers." -Pat Buchanan

Old news I somehow didn't catch last year. Russia Actively Assisting Iran With Weapons

Major countries are taking 'sides' around the world based on mutual economics and ideologies- are you paying attention? If not, start now.

From exporting nuclear technology to Iran for offensive measures, and anti-missile systems for defensive measures, Vladmir Putin is making it difficult for President Bush to understand how he ticks while still claiming to be a friend as he wholely arms his arch-enemy without reservations. Fact is, Putin is a two-faced communist rat, jealous and spiteful of the United States' status as the sole, global superpower... and he at least wants exclusive equality. Break it off, Mr. President- make Sarkozy your new best buddy. Unlike Putin, he is a pro-US conservative and has a hot babe.

It's time for the 'Axis Of Evil' to be revised. Iraq is now - and will continue to be - on our side. North Korea is still being run by a human rights violating fascist bastard (and is being propped up by China), but is a decreasing military threat at the moment. However, Iran is still in play more than ever. I say Iran carries over, and we'll now name Russia and Venezuela as the new members.

It's time to stamp-out the Venezuelan regime as the weakest member of the trio, and pay down our stupid debt to China so the two can trade places in this new anti-West menage-a-trois. This article is proof that we are already heading in that general direction, or should be. These are telling times.

Iran Likely To Lose Its Ass In War With Israel

Interesting report out this week... From what I can extrapolate, not only does Israel control Middle Eastern airspace as I pointed out earlier this year, but their alleged nuclear weapons alone are at least ten times more powerful per unit than anything Iran could develop by the end of this decade.

If such a scenario played out, Iran could suffer closer to a 20:1 civilian casualty ratio to Israeli casualties. Keep in mind this only involves the nukes- the finishing touches of damage from the Israeli Air Force, Navy, Army and the IDF's general ability to 'out-tech' anyone in the region firmly lays claim to the obvious outcome in such a Middle East breakout. Hopefully, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria would be smart enough to leave well enough alone until the fallout settled.

And that's just their capability without active support from the United States or any other allies! I've said it once before and I'll say it again- don't f*** with Israel.

Reports are leaking out this weekend about a 3-day bombing campaign against Iran that will not just wipe out their nuclear ambitions, but annihilate its military with 1,200 targets planned for precision airstrikes.

This is one of those - I hope - perfect scenarios where ground troops shouldn't be needed. But get ready for a 'Fatwa' or whatever against the West- responses may ignite areas in Iraq, Israel, major cities in Europe, or even the U.S. mainland. Iraq was well well-hated enough in the region that the Imams didn't call out for revenge after coalition forces invaded in 2003. Don't expect the same unorganized response from just regional militias this time if the campaign goes forward- the big guns will be getting involved.

U.S. Overwhelmingly The Most Armed Country

Advocating gun laws this way or that just isn't sexy news these days, which is probably why I've been lax to post anything about it.

Read the brief article below real quick and take careful note that the countries listed with the highest gun-to-citizen ratio are not only the most prosperous, but the safest. The countries listed with the lowest gun-to-citizen ratio are the poorest and most violent. Great debate fodder for the Second Amendment that just makes me lick my chops.

The data generally proves a well-armed community is a safe community.

Aussies Bomb North Korean Drug Ship

Credit LiveLeak.com: After being caught trying to smuggle drugs into Australia, the Pong Su was sunk by two 2000-pound (900 kg) laser-guided bombs dropped from an RAAF F-111 aircraft. The deliberate destruction of the freighter was said to deliver a strong message to international drug smuggling rings that the Australian Federal Government would take all measures necessary to stop illegal drug importation.

America Could Use A Good... Attack?

Maybe he's right- how else will America finally and really come to grips with the objectives of Islamic extremism? It's the defining threat of our generation.

China And Russia Are Blindsided

Hold up. Is it just me or isn't it clearly obvious that it's Iran whom nations should really warn could set off an arms race? Of course it is. After all, if it wasn't for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad waving his proverbial cock around with the media internationally, we wouldn't have Israel coming out and revealing that they already have nukes, and have the Saudis (and probably the Syrians) scrambling to develop their own weapons systems. Saddam Hussain was supposedly already in the throws of such a program by 2003.

China warns US may set off arms race

These developments from Hu and Putin in recent days have got to be one of the most profound stories of the year. Keep in mind that we openly invited Russia last month to assist in being a development and management partner of the strategic missile defense, intended specifically to counter ICBMs from Iran. To spin Putin's words back at him, this would indeed be funny if it weren't so sad.

The sad part, of course, is not due to poor communications and/or misunderstanding, but what appears to indeed be the beginnings of alliance-forming across the East. The main concerns are China, Russia, North Korea and Iran, all of whom cannot even condemn eachother with UN sanctions. If this 'buddying-up' wasn't unnerving enough, also keep in mind that Iran can easily open up two fronts here as a result. One with Russia and the gang for the Eastern alliance, and another for that Islamic jihadist 'take-over-the-Middle-East' and 'wipe-Israel-off-the-map' thing. Their forthcoming nuclear capabilities will all-too conveniently assist both theaters of a possible conflict. Wouldn't you lie about your intentions too?

Great. Now who is playing defense for the West? A unified Europe that would strongly pull together as a result- happily including France and Germany now. Australia, Japan and South Korea would strongly join in, and while we're at it, maybe Taiwan will split during the ruckus. The United States would lead the Western alliance, while Russia will likely lead the Eastern. Any speculation as what could unfold after sides are chosen is haunting, but this very real scenario that could likely build up to that point between now and the end of this decade is what it is.

Welcome to The New Cold War.

Just in time relief for ever-increasing global tensions, the United States missile defense system has experienced repeated successful counter-measure tests. With the latest over White Sands Missile Range being called "phenomenal" by the THAAD project manager. Cool article- check it.

The Justification Of Pre-Emption

Think the U.S. is the only country that 'goes it alone' in the face of terrorism and general threats to security? Think again. Japan, disappointed by slow multilateral talk progress, is now considering taking out North Korea's guided missile bases in a pre-emptive motion. It's quite simple, really:

"If we accept that there is no other option to prevent an attack ... there is the view that attacking the launch base of the guided missiles is within the constitutional right of self-defense. We need to deepen discussion," Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said.
Same justification reason - among several others - used by U.S. led Coalition forces to rightly invade Iraq and kick Saddam out of power by force. International talks with an immature dictator down to UN sanctions failed in that example too. "Well, somebody's got to do something if that didn't work for some reason... it's not like the problem just went away," would be my thinking. There seems to be a pattern here... a pattern of common sense used by more nation than one.

America's stance toward enemies like North Korea isn't hard-line enough (likely because our hands are more tied than ususal at the moment one might assume), much like our stance toward 'Palestine'. So countries much closer logistically like Japan and Israel are taking matters into their own hands to step up offences to protect themselves, and at least consider pre-emption if not practice it in the present. And for politics and public relations internationally, it's a boon for The Bush Administration, Tony Blair and others, to show that we're not the only ones out there with seriously high regards about self-defence for the sake of our citizens and other people around the world. When diplomacy absolutely fails, you don't just give up. Unless you're a pansy-ass liberal, pre-emption is naturally the next step taken. Duh.

Such a strike by Japan, could actually save American lives this time around.

Chew on that...

Eureka! Kicking Ass And Taking Names

The dems are reeling from all this great news... whatever will they do?! It's stuff like this (and even more of it we all hope) that will boost poll numbers and keep the GOP in power this year.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Iraq's national security adviser said Thursday a "huge treasure" of documents and computer records was seized after the raid on terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's hideout, giving the Iraqi government the upper hand in its fight against al-Qaida in Iraq.

National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie also said he believed the security situation in the country would improve enough to allow a large number of U.S.-led forces to leave Iraq by the end of this year, and a majority to depart by the end of next year. "And maybe the last soldier will leave Iraq by mid-2008," he said.

Al-Rubaie said a laptop, flashdrive and other documents were found in the debris after the airstrike that killed the al-Qaida in Iraq leader last week outside Baqouba, and more information has been uncovered in raids of other insurgent hideouts since then. He called it a "huge treasure ... a huge amount of information."

When asked how he could be sure the information was authentic, al-Rubaie said "there is nothing more authentic than finding a thumbdrive in his pocket."

"We believe that this is the beginning of the end of al-Qaida in Iraq," al-Rubaie said, adding that the documents showed al-Qaida is in "pretty bad shape," politically and in terms of training, weapons and media.

MSM Actually Helping To Curb Immigration?

Could the mainstream media's false reporting bias on the character and general behavior of the U.S. Army abroad actually be helping us control the border?

SAN LUIS RIO COLORADO, Mexico -- The arrival of U.S. National Guard troops in Arizona has scared off illegal Mexican migrants along the border as a whole, significantly reducing crossings, according to U.S. and Mexican officials.

U.S. authorities said Monday that detentions along the U.S.-Mexico border have decreased by 21 percent, to 26,994, in the first 10 days of June, compared with 34,077 for the same period a year ago.

"Some migrants have told me they heard about the troops on television and, because the U.S. Army doesn't have a very good reputation, they prefer not to cross," Loureiro said, referring to reports of abuse in Iraq.

Troops scare would-be illegal immigrants away from border

Um... we'll accept it. If that's what it takes to help curb illegal immigration, then I'm all for it. Afterall, the truly educated folks of this country know that prisoner abuse is not a problem in our military forces (is less than 1% a problem?) and know to look past the ludicrous MSM bias.

And even if it was a problem, does it really matter when it's a terrorist who is chained up? It's not like we're running babies up flagpoles for days at a time. 'Freedom fighters' could use a few roundhouse kicks to the loins.

The Chicks Are Squeaking Too Much Again

The Dixie Chicks are at it yet again, namely (guess who?) Natalie Maines. But the other two aren't off the hook either.

"As war in Iraq loomed in 2003, Maines told the London audience: "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas." The remarks led to death threats and a backlash from other U.S. country stars, including a high-profile spat with Toby Keith. It also stalled what until then had been the group's smashingly successful career.

Bandmate Emily Robinson said she knew right away the remark wouldn't be taken lightly and got "hot from my head to my toes."

"It wasn't that I didn't agree with her 100 percent; it was just, 'Oh, this is going to stir something up,"' she told Time magazine.

For band member Martie Maguire, the controversy was a blessing in disguise. "I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire said. "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do." "

If You Got It, Flaunt It

Israel has apparently shoved back in regards to the threats from Iran. It's about time they start flexing some muscle to the media of the degree that the U.S. has the tendency to do. Israel quietly has the nuclear capability to not only wipe Iran off the map as they proclaimed today, but probably most of Europe and Russia as well if they had to.

Why the rest of the Middle East doesn't respect this is beyond me. It's pretty simple really. When it comes down to conflict in that region, don't f*** with Israel. There isn't another country in the world that has more intelligence and warcraft backing from the United States of America than they do.
